How to automatically track your food with iPhone XR, XS, XSmax, 11, 11 Pro, 11 pro Max.

This generation of iPhones includes a hardware upgrade and software-upgrade combination that allows users to create automation triggers from NFC tags.

If you don’t have one of these phones, you can get one with my amazon affiliate link and help keep this blog going.

NFC tags cost about 3 cents a piece on Amazon and you can program each one to trigger a different automation.

I saw people online using them to turn lights on and had an idea:

what if I stuck one on every supplement I take, every meal I prep, and on my coffee maker?

I could easily track all of my health info directly into the Apple Health App. Now, you can do the same. Not only that, but you can share your shortcuts on the Sjaalv forum so that others can take advantage of your prep work on your shortcuts and together we can have the shortcuts we need!

All you need is an iPhone from 2019 and nfc Tags.

1. open up the Apple Shortcuts app and go to Automation -> click the “+” and select personal automation.

2. Select NFC Tag as the trigger and sync it to the tag you have. Then name it what you’re tracking.

3. Add what you want the app to do. In our case we want to log all the data Apple Health recognizes.

4. Click done!

5. Whenever you consume this thing, tap your phone against the NFC tag and it will automatically track what you had!
